The 4 en-suite rooms each have their own entrance to an enormous sub-tropical garden to ensure your privacy; have air-conditioning, bar-fridge and hospitality trays.
The Cottage is air-conditioned, has two bedrooms, a fully fitted kitchenette, bathroom and a lounge/dining room. It has a separate entrance and garden. The self-catering option is economical, but feel free to join us for breakfast and delicious South African home cooking, or you can visit any of the nearby restaurants.
The Guest Lounge is surrounded by beautiful, huge old trees and offers DSTV, music system, pub area, kitchen and dining area. Outside you will find a braai (barbeque) area and jacuzzi. Sit around a huge camp fire at night and discuss your outing!
We will gladly arrange your visit to the Country Club, 5 minutes drive from Marula Place for gym, tennis, golf, swimming, squash or bowls and discuss with you the various day trips you can take during your stay. The Country Club also has an excellent restaurant.

St Lucia Estuary is situated within the world heritage site, The Greater Zululand Wetland Park. This area is the gateway to the eastern shores of lake St Lucia, which contains the highest vegetated dunes in the world, extensive and diverse wetland systems, as well as coastal grasslands with an associated fauna which includes the world's highest density of common reedbuck. The area is also a birdwatcher paradise. Boat trips on the lake are offered 3 times per day.
Inland, some spots of interest include indigenous forests (including the world-renowned Dukuduku forest currently under threat of extinction), as well as wetlands, mangroves and grasslands, with vegetation incomparable anywhere in the world. Some of the animals found here include magnificent birds like the kingfisher, fish eagle, and heron; hippo, crocodile, elephant, rhino, buck and giraffe can also be found.
The Umfolozi/Hluhluwe "Thorny Monkey Rope", 'Umhluhluwe' Game Reserve - 20 minutes drive from Marula Place:
As one of the largest game parks in South Africa, and certainly the most famous of the Zululand reserves, the Umfolozi/Hluhluwe Park occupies 96 000 scenic hectares of rugged hills, river valley, woodland and savannah.
The hilly bushveld of the Hluhluwe section was once the hunting ground of Zulu royalty. The Game Reserve boasts the largest population of the southern white rhino.
The Black and White Umfolozi Rivers flow though the park and cross on numerous occasions. Wilderness trials of up to 15 km's per day are also offered under supervision of an experienced ranger.
